The 45-year-old actress recently launched her music career, embarking on a quest to become a singer. Of course, there are those who doubt whether this is the age at which someone should make such a pivot, and to her detractors, she has nothing kind to say.
The actress has been posting about her dive into the world of music on Instagram quite a lot and her latest posts seem to have gotten some negative attention. On a video of herself singing, one person wrote, “she should stick to acting.” Another person added, “when you have too much money and buy yourself a singing career.”
Another upset person wrote, “…this is the third actor/actress THIS week that’s become a singer or musician or has an album coming out. I get “being in the business” so it’s like a jack of all trades type deal but no. It’s a no for me. I’m a huge cinema fan. And actors and actresses should just stick to what they’re good at. Singers and musicians should stick to what they’re good at…”
The actress is set to release her entire album in May this year. In an interview, she opened up about the brutal feedback she received when she suggested embarking on a music career at this age.
She said, “There was someone who said to me — and it kind of jarred me a little — it was when I was in my early 30s, and they basically said, ‘It’s done, it’s passed. You can’t, you’re too old.’ And you know, for me, it wasn’t just about being a performer, it was about wanting to write music.”
While the advice stopped her for a while, she decided to ignore it and go ahead with working on her album anyway.
Hudson said of that advice, “I was like, ‘Eh, f*** you.’ No, no one tells me what to do.” While she said it in a light-hearted tone, Hudson definitely meant it because she is not allowing anyone to stop her from perusing her dream.
Kate Hudson’s musical aspirations are not just out of the blue. The actress has even sung on camera before for her movies “About Adam” and “Nine.”
