This meant that the twins could be biologically either Harris’ or Burtka’s.
But Harris has now opened up about why it is important to him that he does not know which child is biologically his.
Harris is known for his various roles in Hollywood which include parts in television series and movies. His infamous role as Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother and his terrifying role in the mystery-thriller Gone Girl as the ex-boyfriend.
Neil Patrick Harris is also a vocal member of the LGBTQ+ rights. He often uses his position as a well-known actor to advocate for the cause. He is one of the first high-profile actors to start a family with his same-sex partner.
He made a comment about not wanting to know which twin was biologically his back in 2014 when the children were just 4 years old. And it is a comment he still wholly believes in today.
“I have no interest in [finding out]. We are their parents and I love them implicitly,” he shared.
“We keep being told that at a certain point, they’re going to hate us,” he said as a joke in a recent interview.
“That hasn’t happened yet. So you know, so far, so good!”
“They’re good kids. We’ve done a good job. You know, you put the work in and you get it back, you know?” Burtka supplied.
Harris shared a birthday post for his kids on Instagram recently, writing in the caption, “And, just like that, they’re teenagers.
“Happy birthday, Harper and Gideon. You are the lights of my life. I can’t wait to watch you want nothing to do with me, and I promise I’ll be with you through all of it. Just, wow.”
While Harris maintains that he has no interest in finding out which twin is biologically his, there are some detectives online who are trying to figure out which twin belongs to whom.
