Last night I got a message on Cameo, which is the only place I talk to strangers,” Perrette said. “It was a terrible story about this person’s family member who has been scammed by someone who said they were me. I took a picture and did everything I could but scammers are clever.”
She explained how it wasn’t just fans the scammers were going after, but people Perrette knew.
“Then today, I get a message from my old pastor and he was like, ‘Hey, I see you want me to friend you on Facebook’, and I’m like, ‘I’m not on Facebook’.”
The actress expressed her frustration saying, “I don’t get why anyone wants to impersonate someone else but what I do get is that this is dangerous, they’re asking people for money.”
She reiterated how the only place she speaks with strangers is on Cameo.
Although not her fault, Perrette continued her apology in the caption of her Instagram video.
“I am so sorry that this is happening to so many of you. From just communicating with a ‘Fake Pauley’ to those who have been scammed out of money by a ‘Fake Pauley’. It’s AWFUL. Dawn, I’m sorry, It was never me you were talking to.”
