The hospitalization of Kate Middleton has understandably been a cause for concern for her many fans worldwide. Not only was the matter sudden and unexpected – despite Kensington Palace’s claim that it had been ‘planned’ – but information regarding what Kate was actually suffering from has been scarce.
Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful and it is expected she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter,” the statement from Kensington Palace on its social media pages.
“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”
The statement continued: “Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share. The Princess of Wales wishes to apologise to all those concerned for the fact she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible.”
Indeed, rumor and speculation have filled the void, to the point where it’s difficult to believe anything that hasn’t come directly from the royals themselves. Even then, who can say how much is being held back behind their famous veil of secrecy?
One thing that is undoubtedly true is that Kate has the unconditional love and support of her husband, Prince William.
Reports state that the future king is temporarily stepping back from his royal duties to help care for the couple’s three children, but he’s also been there for his wife as she remains in a London hospital for the initial phase of her recovery.
The Sun newspaper say that William has visited his wife every day in hospital in London’s Marylebone. The same report, however, claims Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have not yet been to visit their mom.
Instead, the kids are believed to have been at school as normal during their mom’s stay in hospital. The trio spent Sunday with Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton.
By all accounts, and despite her status as a future queen, Kate is a very hands-on mother who likes to get involved at her children’s school events and does the school run each morning.
She may be bed-bound at present, but that won’t stop her from being there for her children, according to Hello!’s royal editor Emily Nash.
“Kate loves FaceTiming the children when she is working away overseas so I’m sure they will be in regular contact while she’s in the hospital, and the kids will be keen to see her as soon as she’s well enough,” Nash wrote.
“She loves having her family around her so will be looking forward to getting home and having cuddles with the kids. Both William and Kate are very hands-on parents – they take the kids to school, attend sports matches and concerts and try to be home for bedtime as much as they can. While Kate is in hospital, William will be at home keeping things as normal as possible.”
Earlier this month, Buckingham Palace also revealed that King Charles III is seeking treatment for an enlarged prostate. The 75-year-old’s public engagements “will be postponed for a short period of recuperation.”
