A recent Wheel of Fortune episode captured the hearts of many after a mother and son duo made a big impression.
During a special Home for the Holidays episode of Wheel of Fortune, a heartwarming moment unfolded as the 92-year-old mother and her son not only won over $65,000 in prize money but also captured the affection of hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White.
This week’s theme on Wheel of Fortune featured three teams of two instead of the usual three single contestants. The mother-son duo, Liz and KC Wright, faced off against a brother-brother team and a sister-sister team.
KC provided a touching introduction to his mother Liz, sharing her remarkable life story: “She spent the first 88 years of her life in Oklahoma with my dad. They, for 62 years, traveled the world, a hundred countries and seven continents. He passed, she moved down five years ago to be with me.”
He continued: “And I say, you know, the first 18 years of my life you taught me how to use a spoon, do all the things, watch Wheel of Fortune. And then the last five years I’ve been able to try to give something back to her.” Liz, in turn, called her son KC “the greatest father in the world.”
Liz showcased her puzzle-solving prowess from the start getting her first answer correct, which was “THE ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME”. Sajak jokingly quipped: “You’re just toying with us, aren’t you, Liz?”
Later, she successfully guessed “HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS,” earning a trip to Antigua and accumulating $25,500 in prize money, securing a spot in the Bonus Round.
Choosing the Food and Drink category for the final puzzle, Liz astutely identified DRIZZLED HONEY, much to the joy of the audience. With an additional $40,000 added, their total winnings reached $65,500, along with the trip.
Sajak expressed his amazement, stating: “You know the longer I’m with this show, the less I understand it.” Liz and KC celebrated with family, and the cameras captured Liz asking her son: “OK, do you think your dad would be proud of us?”
Not only did Sajak and White enjoy Liz’s performance, but White also revealed on TikTok that this was her favorite show in her 41 years on Wheel of Fortune because Liz made it “so special.”
Viewers on social media agreed, and KC took to social media to express his gratitude, writing on X (formerly Twitter): “Mom (Liz) & I are so incredibly blessed with this experience. The entire Wheel of Fortune team and family are amazing.”
The episode concluded with Sajak and White on stage with Liz, who shared that she had been tuning into the show since it first aired in Oklahoma City.
Sajak thanked her, stating: “Well, you played extremely well, and it was a great honor to have you here. And we really appreciate you continuing to watch. And stay in touch, OK?”
Liz replied with a smile, saying: “I would love to.”
